Lourdes is a small town in the Hautes Pyrénées department in southwest France. It is a significant place, where landscape and history mix together. The silhouette of the Pyrenean chain is visible to the South with the Béout and Grand Jer summits close by. The Gave river which originates from Gavarnie, crosses the urban area of Lourdes and passes next to the grotto of Massabielle before heading towards the Bearn region.
